AMAZON | SDE-1 | INDIA | September Rejected

Hi,

I am a 2021 graduate from a tier 2 college. I've interned as a 6 month intern in a fintech company and am currently working as a FTE at the same place. I've given nearly 4-5 online assessments of Amazon and have just passed the last one. I do not know based on what criterion they select in the Online assessment. So, the last assessment I gave was in June. I got a SDE Preparation session mail by the end of August and my interview was scheduled in the first week of September. However, the interview was cancelled that day due to some unavoidable circumstances. I again received a call from a recruiter by the end of September regarding scheduling the interview. I wanted to get these interviews done with, so I asked him to schedule it 2 days later. Three interviews were scheduled, two on one day and the third one on the other. These interviews were rescheduled two times after the call.

Interview -1 [SDE-2]:

1. Coding question : Burst Ballon. I started solving the problem by giving a brute force approach. A recursive backtracking approach which is not the best approach to the problem. The interviewer was expecting the DP solution.
2. Leadership principle questions like,
   a) Have you faced any blocker in the work that you are doing?
   b) Have you deep dive to find a solution to the problem any time?

I was not expecting such leadership principle questions from the first round. I clearly fucked up the first round mainly due to the only coding question asked.

Interview - 2 [EM of the SDE-2]:

He did not ask any coding questions, He started with leadership principles. He was interested in the work that I had done in my present company.

1. Have you solved any problem?
2. Some other Leadership principle questions
   He tested me with some fundamental questions about building a Hotel Booking management system.He also asked me about REST services, GET/PUT/POST methods.

I guess this round was average.

Interview - 3 [Manager of the EM]:

He was from the US and took the interview at 2000IST.

1. Asked a TRIE question which I solved.
2. Some questions about the tasks that I had done in my present company.

This round went quite good.

I received a call in October regarding my fourth round. It was scheduled in the beginning of October. It was rescheduled twice, once when I had entered the interview.

Interview - 4 [SDM] :

1. Two coding questions:
   a) Populate the next right pointer
   b) An extension of the above problem where I had to connect left and right pointers to each node.
2. Leadership principles asked:
   a) I was asked about the projects that I had undertaken.
   b) I was asked about a situation where I had to take critical feedback and work on it.

I had answered all the coding questions. The leadership questions were tricky. This round went well too.

I did not receive any mail from them for the next 10 days, I knew I was rejected. However, I mailed to get a feedback from them. All I received was a "We regret to inform you" mail. I have been dejected and rejected quite a few times now. The streak continues. AMAZON, HOTSTAR, INTUIT, ADOBE. I do not feel good. I know I have to work harder. I could have gotten selected if not for the Burst Balloon question, but then I ask myself why do they have to schedule the fourth interview if they had to reject me ultimately. I really feel quite low right now.
